The band was originally active in the
underground music scene, they became well known in the underground since the release of the album Enter (1997). But ever since they released the album Mother Earth who rely on single Ice Queen,
Within Temptation became well known in all circles, the album to number 2 in the number of sales in the Netherlands, the next album

The success of the album Mother Earth makes
Sharon left his job as a designer at a fashion company. The concept of this album will be based on the comic book series, written by Steven. O'Connell (BloodRayne & Dark 48) and illustrated by Romano Molenaar (Witchblade, Darkness and X-Men). Each song on "The Unforgiving" was written along Steven's narrative, with characters in the songs reflecting the protagonists comics.
On July 26, 2010, the band announced that they will begin a European tour in early 2011 to support their new release. However, on 26 November 2010, it was announced that due to Sharon's third pregnancy, the tour dates would be moved from early 2011 to ahir 2011.
